This Is How Irina Shayk Does a Dress and Sneakers

Die-hard fans of Irina Shayk's supermodel style will have noticed a subtle shift in the Russian bombshell's looks over the past month. To attend a Met Gala 2023 after-party, Shayk stood out in a sea of barely there dresses and daringly diaphanous fabrics, sporting the casual combination of a simple white vest top and gray track pants, with bedazzled Jimmy Choo x Timberland boots, and a chunky Ana Khouri choker. The Met Gala have may honored the design codes of Karl Lagerfeld—who vilified the notion of leisurewear—but after the ball, Shayk was ready for her sweats.

It wasn't just a onetime thing. In recent weeks the model has used athletic, off-duty pieces to bring a touch of the avant-garde to her occasion wear. Her fail-safe accessories? A pair of springy slip-on Nike Martine Rose x Shox Mule MR4 trainers (which have driven sneakerheads and Vogue editors wild) and Nike swoosh-logo socks. (See the latest photos here.)

Shayk sported white Nike socks with Ancuta Sarca's upcycled sneaker mules at the Monaco Grand Prix in May, paired with a transparent black slip, a white T-shirt, and a baseball cap. At Cannes, when she wasn't wearing Mowalola's burnished red leather bralette and low-rise skirt on the red carpet, she was juxtaposing girlish gingham checks by Self-Portrait or a skintight white Roland Mouret dress, with her favourite cool-girl Nikes. Shayk's close friend Riccardo Tisci was on her arm for many of these photo ops—a natural fit, given that the designer and great friend of the model has long championed athletic-infused sex appeal when it comes to the wardrobe.

Irina Shayk is such a fan of Mouret's body-con knitted midi dress that she wore it again out and about in Manhattan this week, with her favorite sock and shoe combo. The look perfectly sums up her new slinky-meets-sporty aesthetic, as appropriate for a super-yacht on the Côte d’Azur as a New York sidewalk. Eyes peeled for where she wears it next.
